Task: “movie about the topic bird”. First year of studying, first big movie project — we had no idea what to do and how, but have been highly motivated. Still one of my favorites of work done while studying.
I have been responsible for shooting and heavily involved in story writing, character and set creation, cut and post production.

For the body itself we used foamed polystyrene covered with modeling clay. But it has been found to be not as durable as expected, especially the white parts became dirty very quick and needed to be exchanged.
Accessories have been made of clay, too.

Joints are made from very durable Lego parts.
Later on, the lower part of the pecker has been added.
The set
One of most important parts about shooting a stop-motion movie is the durability of the characters. Very often wires are used to build joints, but they break sometimes already after thirty bends. Thus we replaced those with hinges from my good old Lego box, which has been a major part of my childhood btw.
